Website Design

There are lots of options when choosing a website but to make it easy we’ve created some basic packages particularly designed for artists and makers. Of course you can always request other features and you can start with a basic package and upgrade whenever you’re ready. Contact Lou to see what’s possible.

One Page Website

  • Your own domain name
Choose your own domain name for your website (e.g. yourname.co.uk or yournameartist.com)
  • One email address
We'll set you up an email address of your choice (e.g. info@yourname.co.uk) and any email sent to that address, we'll forward to your usual email account.
  • One page website
A one page website functions a bit like an online business card. It contains enough information for people who may be wanting to find you online to get to know you and gives them some information so they can contact you. We'll include a secure contact form that will forward any messages to your usual email account. You can provide a photo of yourself and an image of your work to illustrate the page. You may want to include some information about where you're based and a short introductory paragraph about your work.
  • Costs
Each website has a setup fee and an annual renewal fee. This is because there's a cost involved in setting up the website but there are also ongoing costs for hosting and domain name renewals, plus regular security updates to your website to keep all your data safe. For a one page website, the basic setup cost is £250 and the annual renewal fee is £100. This doesn't include content updates which you can either opt to carry out yourself (and we can provide training so you can do that) or would be charged at an hourly rate.

Four Page Website

  • Your own domain name
Choose your own domain name for your website (e.g. yourname.co.uk or yournameartist.com)
  • One email account
We'll set you up an email address of your choice (e.g. info@yourname.co.uk) and create an email account for you at that address. We'll give you information on how to access your mail through a mail client. The benefit of having an email account is that you can separate your work email from your personal messages and you can reply to email using your chosen email address which wouldn't be possible if the mail was simply forwarded to you.
  • Four page website
A four page website gives you greater flexibility and the chance to tailor your site. For artists, a typical four page website would include a home page, an 'about' page, a gallery of images and a contact page. Your home page could have a slideshow of your work or some introductory information and a simple 'hero' image. Your about page might include your artist's statement and CV, your gallery can include up to 20 images and your contact page can have as much or as little information as you want to share (for example, a map pointing to your studio) but would include a secure contact form that will forward any messages to you. You should provide good quality images for your gallery, we can give you some guidance on this, and you can include information such as the medium and dimensions of the work.

Simple Online Store

  • Your own domain name
Choose your own domain name for your website (e.g. yourname.co.uk or yournameartist.com)
  • Up to five email accounts
We can set you up up to five email addresses of your choice (e.g. info@yourname.co.uk) and create an email account for each at that address. We'll give you information on how to access your mail through a mail client. Several email accounts allows you the option of creating accounts for different parts of your business (e.g. info or sales) and creating accounts for several people.
  • Four page website
A four page website gives you greater flexibility and the chance to tailor your site. For artists, a typical four page website would include a home page, an 'about' page, a gallery of images and a contact page. In this package, your image gallery would double as an online shop, with each item including a link for someone to purchase it. Your home page could have a slideshow of your work or some introductory information and a simple 'hero' image. Your about page might include your artist's statement and CV. Your contact page can have as much or as little information as you want to share (for example, a map pointing to your studio) but would include a secure contact form that will forward any messages to you.
  • Online Store
An online store gives you the option to take orders for your work direct from your customers. We can set up the store with 20 items to begin with but recommend you take advantage of the 2 hour training we offer as part of this package on administering your online shop. For each item you can include more than one image, to show it from different angles or show an item in use. You should also include the dimensions and materials used. The online shop in this package would take the place of an image gallery. You will need a paypal account to accept credit card orders. The details of fulfilment of orders, responsibility for ensuring you have adequate stock and ensuring your terms and conditions are within legal guidelines for your geographic area are entirely your responsibility and not that of Dot and the Line.
